As far as I’m concerned,I’m convinced that the way younger people treat the elderly is very little different now from how it was in the dim and distant past. The notion that young people are disrespectful is not new. You only have to read social history books to realize that older adults have always thought that the younger generation is ill-disciplined,badly-behaved and intolerant. It seems to me that there is also a tendency for older people to view their own past through rose-tinted specs. They like to imagine that they were always courteous and respectful to their elders when they were young,but in reality,I suspect this was not always true.
